Happy TGIF!!! I don’t know about you but this tired mama is so ready for the weekend! Jordan has travelled for biz meetings the past 2 weeks and solo parenting 3 kids can be quite exhausting. I don’t know how all of you single mamas out there do it full time, you are my hero. If you saw my Insta story last week then you probably saw that Sam had croup. We were at the emergency room in the middle of the night one night last week (luckily it was when Jordan was in town!). And he has still been recovering. So tonight some R&R is on the agenda.
As busy as this fall has been I’m so glad that I have this comfy cozy off the shoulder (OTS) shirtdress. Because I have been living in it! It is comfy enough to wear chasing and wrangling kids yet it is chic and on trend enough to wear to meetings, outings, and on date nights. I love the blouson fit…which is so flattering. And the very best part is that it is less than $20!!! Yes, you read that right 🙂 So run, do not walk, to get yours too.
Happy Thursday friend! I hope you are having a great first week of October!! I am so excited for all things October; pumpkins, apples, fall leaves, patio weather, the state fair of Texas and of course Halloween. Each year I have every intention of planning ahead for our costumes and then October arrives and I end up scrambling at the last second. Of course Charlie and Josh have some ideas on what they would like to be for Halloween, but I would really like something cute and coordinated. So, if you have any great Halloween costume ideas for me and the boys please share in the comments.
Today is all about this fabulous long sleeved floral mini dress from Alice + Olivia. I first spotted this dress at Nordstrom while shopping with my mom a few months ago. It was during the Nordstrom anniversary sale, and naturally I was drawn to this pretty…ahem full price…dress. I could not stop thinking about it so I went back for it. And I’m so glad that I did. As I’m sure you can tell I’m a fan of feminine dresses and pretty prints. And this mini dress is so light and airy and flirty. I mean seriously, how gorgeous are the details!! If you have a luncheon or a date night coming up this dress would so be perfect.
Here I paired the dress with these super simple Stuart Weitzman ‘nudist’ heels and one of my favorite clutches (it holds so much!). But this fabulous dress also looks gorg with grey or neutral over the knee boots. A grey or neutral leather jacket over it will also take it into the cooler temps. I love how versatile dresses are, and they are perfect for fall when we are transitioning from summer styles into winter wear.
Hi loves!! One of my very favorite online sales, the Shopbop Sale Event, started yesterday and runs through tomorrow, so I wanted to share this fabulous sale with all of you. When you spend $500 or less you get 20% off your order, or when you spend over $500 you can get 25% off!! It’s a really great opportunity to get those pricier items you have been holding off on, like Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots or a classic trench. It is also a perfect time to stock up on essential pieces, like shorts, jeans, classic blouses, tees and sunglasses.
Above is a round up of some essential items currently in my closet that are part of the sale. And below I’ve also rounded up some items from the sale that I have in my shopping cart right now. Who doesn’t love a good sale!? It was fun to do this round up, because I’m really loving Shopbop’s selection right now.
Happy Friday! Woohoo!! And happy first day of fall! I am excited that the weekend is here. This week was super busy and felt like it dragged on a bit. My sister is coming in town tomorrow and we are soooo excited for Auntie Abbie to be here! There is nothing better than sister time, am I right!?
Today is all about ways to wear white this fall. Even though Labor Day has come and gone and fall is officially here, and darker colors and heavy knits are all around us, it does not mean that we need to pack up those whites until spring. I’m all about transitioning summer pieces into fall. I got this dress over the summer for Sam’s blessing/baby naming in July. And I adore it so much that I plan to continue wearing it this season.
Almost every fashion “it” girl knows that wearing white after Labor Day is actually chic and totally doable. So I thought that I would share seven ways to wear white after Labor Day, so that you too will know some ways to incorporate your favorite white pieces into your fall wardrobe.
HERE ARE 7 WAYS TO WEAR WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY:
1. Pair your white with a current fall trend. Such as this years hot velvet trend, like I did in the outfit above.
2. Wear your white with a favorite fall color that is rich in jewel tones (think burgundy, navy, marigold and olive).
3. Accessorize your whites with your favorite fall accessories, like I did above with the Louis Vuitton clutch.
4. Layer your whites. You can wear your white piece under your favorite jacket, coat or cardigan. Adding in textures to bring fall fashion into the mix.
5. Wear white for all things bridal and pregnancy. Engagement/maternity/newborn photos, showers, wedding week, your baby’s birth, etc… I did this when I got married and had my babies. There is something so special and pure about being a bride and a new Mom. It is the perfect time and reason to wear those whites!
6. Choose white pieces that are in heavier weight fabrics. Forgo the super flow-y white chiffon in favor of white knit.
7. Opt for winter white, off white or cream. Incorporating a neutral that you are comfortable with is the key to pulling off a successful white look this season.
Overall stay true to what your own unique style is, regardless of the season.
I hope you have a wonderful, and restful, weekend!
Happy Friday loves!! Woot Woot! Who else loved the short week?! As soon as Labor Day hits it seems to signal the official end to the summer season. Everyone is all about the fall feels now. I love September and October in Dallas because the weather is absolute perfection. Perfect for playing outside with the kiddos and the best patio weather all year occurs in these two months. However, I am not quite ready to put away my open toed shoes in favor of booties (I’ll save those for the winter months). So today’s post is all about transitioning your summer wardrobe for the fall months, in particular how to wear your summer skirts in September (and all season long).
I love this embroidered Alice + Olivia chambray skirt. I wore it all summer with tanks, off the shoulder tops and minimalist stiletto heels. But to make it feel more seasonally appropriate in September (without throwing on the ever popular cami and chunky knit duo) I love to keep it chic yet simple by wearing my favorite summer skirts with button downs. I love this silk one from Equipment because it is slim fitting and so soft. I tied it in a knot at the bottom to keep it current and on trend. Sometimes a classic white button down (all though so chic on some ladies, I wish that I was one of them) can sometimes feel too menswear-ish for my taste, so I love that the embroidery from the skirt combined with knotting the blouse at the bottom gave the look an extra touch of femininity.
These stacked heel platform shoes are my go to shoes in the transition seasons (fall and spring). I love that they’re still open toed because let’s be real it is still 80+ degrees in Dallas, yet they are more covered up than the minimalist stilettos that I favor in the summer months. And the Louis cross-body is a quintessential fall accessory. I plan to transition more of my favorite skirts for fall by also wearing them with a simple chic blouse, stacked platform heels and a cross-body bag. Below are more embroidered skirts that I’m loving.
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a fabulous weekend!
