Hi loves! I hope you all had a very merry and magical Christmas! Ours was the best Christmas yet!! This was the first year that Josh was old enough to really take an interest in the magic of Santa, and he and Charlie were SO in to it! And little Sam loved the commotion of it all! And now I cannot believe that the start of 2018 is just days away. Where has this year gone?!? All though I could really use 2-3 weeks in between hosting Christmas and hosting New Years Eve (Yes you read that correctly, we are hosting yet again! We are the eternal host/hostess).  We have been in non-stop hosting, recovery and hosting again mode since Thanksgiving and Sam’s first birthday party. But I do love this week in between Christmas and New Years when everything is quiet and low key. Let’s all rest up now so we can be our most productive and best selves come January 1st right!?

I always look forward to New Years festivities, especially for dressing up in some metallics, sparkles and/or a chic little black dress. It’s so much fun to dress up and to try a different look or to experiment with different textures than our normal day to day looks. So today I’m sharing 2 New Years Eve ready dresses that are perfect for when the ball drops at midnight.

Leave it to the feminine and flirty dresses of Misa for the most perfect NYE dancing dress! Every time I wear this Misa dress (pictured above) I instantly feel ready to dance and party. I love the gold grommet detailing and the ruffles…oh the ruffles!! 🙂 So perfect for a NYE out. And what says NYE more than a pair of fab metallic pumps that have gold heels! These are an investment but I’ve linked some equally fab metallic shoes above as well as in the scrolling widget below.

This Michael Kors dress is the ultimate NYE dress…body con fit and metallic gold threading! It literally screams “Happy New Year”! I originally saw and loved this Milly dress, but preferred the price point of this Michael Kors dress. And it’s even prettier in person.

A fab feathered skirt like this or this would be so much fun! If something a bit more classic and less flashy is more your style, this LBD dress would be perfect.

Since we are staying in and hosting friends at our house I got this cami (I love the silver metallic!) and plan to wear it with these black velvet pants (already in my closet from a past season and currently on major sale!) and these fab heels.

I can’t wait to ring in 2018!

Happy Monday! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend! Sam and I got to enjoy part of the weekend as the only two at home, and I have to say it was so nice! I also made some progress on my holiday shopping. Can you believe that Hanukah starts this week and that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away! Where does the time go?!

Today is all about this perfect little black dress! I was right away drawn to the circular cut out design since it’s so different from all of the other black dresses that I have. It is also really comfortable for such a dressy look. So perfect for holiday parties and any event coming up in the new year.

Here I paired it with classic black pumps and a nude clutch for a timeless look. These pumps are an investment piece but are so worth the price because the quality is amazing and they go with everything! I found some fabulous looking dupes here, here and here. I love how adding the large gold hoop earrings to the outfit made the look pop for the holidays. And the earrings are currently on major sale for under $50!

If you are on the hunt for a perfect black dress for a holiday party, winter wedding, or a soiree I’ve linked some fabulous options below in the scrolling widget.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a great start to the new week!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I still can’t believe Christmas is over and that New Years is next! We had an amazing Christmas with family and are looking forward to NYE with friends, but honestly we can’t wait to get back to our usual routine and new life with baby Samuel!

With the new year right around the corner, I’ve been thinking about how fun and amazing this year has been! I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store! This look from Joie would be perfect for New Year’s Eve!!

Do you have any big plans for New Year’s Eve?

Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a fantastic New Year’s Eve, and are enjoying some R&R today on New Year’s Day!  I always love the fresh start of a new year. 2013 was a great year overall, and I am excited to see what 2014 has in store. Since I started this blog at the very end of the year, I thought it would be fun to recap some the year’s best moments.

1. We celebrated Charlie’s first birthday with a super fun safari themed birthday party. Watching Charlie grow throughout the year was so much fun, brought us so much joy and of course his first birthday was a big milestone for us.

2. Lots of fab weddings and events. I had the pleasure of working with some amazing clients and creative partners this year. All of the weddings that I planned and designed in 2013 were for full and partial planning clients, as I decided to no longer offer day-of coordination clients in 2013. It was a tough decision but ultimately was the right one for my family and my business.  And I thoroughly loved working with the clients that trusted me with their big day and special events this past year. I also worked with several clients on residential parties, and thoroughly enjoyed planning and designing for dinner parties and holidays this past year.

3. Traveling to my hometown of Minneapolis to spend time with family. Including very successfully surprising my mom and sisters with a visit in June. There is nothing better than spending time by the open lakes and lush parkways of my home town and taking in time spent with family.

4. My mom overcame her second battle with breast cancer. She is by far the strongest woman I know!

5. Many, many, MANY firsts with Charlie; first nights to finally sleep through the night, first Valentine’s Day, first hair cut, first birthday, first steps, lots of first words/phrases, first time at the zoo, first time to the pumpkin patch, first swim lessons, lots of meals out and much more! I love this little dude with all of my heart and I love our adventures!

6. I enjoyed a night away with my wonderful hubby to celebrate my birthday. Thank you Grammi and Zaide for babysitting Charlie 🙂

7. Really got back into running. I bought a jogging stroller in early 2013 and seriously could not have lived without it! It is so nice to run outside and to be able to just take Charlie along with me. I also ran in my first Turkey Trot / first 8 mile race which was a huge accomplishment. My sister Abbie ran it with me, and I’m so proud of us for doing it!

8. I also tried Pure Barre for the first time and loved it…I’m hooked.

9. Hosted friends at our home for several fun occasions and get togethers in 2013!!

10. Started this blog. Which was a goal of mine for 2013. And I can’t wait to share more with you in the new year.
