Happy early Mother’s Day to all of you beautiful mommas and mommas-to-be!!
Being a Mother is one of the most challenging and most rewarding experiences. I remember when I was only a few weeks into being a new mom with my first son, Charlie, and my Dad asked how motherhood was going so far. And my reply, was a teary-eyed “it is both AMAZING and EXHAUSTING”.
But even now as a “veteran” Mom of three kids who are 6, 3 and 1 I would still answer that question with the same response. And I would not choose to have it any other way!
So, in honor of my experience as a mom to 3 beautiful wild boys over the past 6 years here are 3 things that I have learned as a Mom of 3.
3 things that I have learned as a Mom of 3:
1. My kids are really the ones teaching me!
They’re constantly teaching me love, compassion, patience and resilience. I love seeing the world and new experiences through each one of them.
2. Just how unique we all are!
My kids were seeded and grew from the same “garden” but they are VERY different “flowers” from one and another. It’s a really corny analogy but it’s true! They’ve taught me just how special (and good) it is to be different from one another. Being you is something that no one else can ever do or be. It is your superpower!
3. Progress over perfection!
At times this one is the toughest lesson for me. I’m a type A personality. But our kids do not care about how clean the house is or how elaborate the dinner they’re being served is. They just want to explore, be silly and to have fun… and they want to do those things WITH their Mom! Sometimes it’s completely okay to just let some things go. And to savor the moment, because the moments go so fast!
Charles, Joshua and Samuel – Thank you! I am honored to be your Mom! You three are my greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. I never knew I could love so much until I had the three of you. Love, Mom
If you’re a Mom, what are some of the things motherhood has taught you? Or if you’re not yet a Mom, what are some of the lessons your own Mom has taught you? I would love to hear!
